Deborah Ann Woll is relishing the opportunity to portray a grown-up woman in the new Netflix drama "Marvel's Daredevil."
In Marvel's Daredevil, the first time we see Woll's character Karen Page, her hands are covered in blood. And of course, Woll is best known to TV audiences for her role as Jessica Hamby in True Blood.
So Woll got on the phone. Marvel's Daredevil definitely is happening. Woll's Karen Page has a very important part to play in all this, but when we first meet her, she's certainly in despair. True, Woll often plays plucky battlers who are forced to overcome horrible things.
'Daredevil' role is personal for Deborah Ann Woll
After seven seasons of playing teenage vampire Jessica Hamby on HBO’s "
True Blood,"
The role of Karen Page — the secretary and future love interest of blind lawyer/vigilante Matt Murdock (aka Daredevil) — holds a personal connection for Woll as well.
The series filmed in New York City, which besides allowing Woll — who was born and raised in Brooklyn — the opportunity to spend time with family and friends, added the authenticity of shooting on real city streets. Though Page was Daredevil’s longest-running love interest in the comic books — and there are hints of chemistry in the pilot — Woll is mum on whether a romance will develop in the 13-episode first season.
